aden + anais Sleeping Bag Review

Our gorgeous aden + anais Mid Season Sleeping Bag in Dream Ride and Birdsong print has been put through its paces with our NBS Parent Testers! It's been designed by aden + anais to be worn over pyjamas and eliminates the need for loose blankets in the cot for a safer sleep. The sleeping bag is made of four layers of 100% cotton muslin for the best comfort and zips open from the bottom for night time changes and stays soft wash after wash. Keep reading to find out why our Parent Testers have given it their seal of approval...! 

Parent Tester 1: Darbi Shuttleworth

I was so excited to be chosen to review and keep the aden + anais Mid Season Sleeping Bag in the print ‘Bird Song’! My little girl has been using a sleeping bag since she was around 4 weeks old and I have tried several other brands and I just have not been 100% satisfied with them. I was initially attracted to aden + anais as I was keen to ensure my little girl was wrapped in 100% cotton as she has sensitive skin, and I wanted to ensure her sleeping bag was breathable - something the previous sleeping bags we had used were not. I was already researching into which new sleeping bag to purchase for my then 6 and a half month old little girl, when I entered the competition and to my surprise and delight I won! Perfect timing!

I was contacted by a lovely lady from the marketing team on the Monday, and by the Friday I had received my winnings; beautifully packaged. It was a nice touch to have a #NBSWinner card!

The product itself is wonderfully packaged by aden + anais. Clear, easy to read information about the product, how to use and how to keep clean. It is very soft to touch and looks exactly like the pictures. I washed the product before first use as instructed, on a 40 degree wash with similar colours and tumble dried on low. It washed extremely well, the colours did not run or fade. In fact it looked exactly as it did from first taking it out the packaging.

I am very happy with how the product looks. It is stylish and pretty and it fits in perfectly in my little girl's nursery. I really like how the sleeping bag has arm holes. My little girl is a very wriggly sleeper and has in the past managed to pull open press studs at the shoulder. I also really like how the product zips from the bottom up - to allow for those night time nappy changes. It also means that my little girl does not have a metal zip under her chin, which has worried me in the past too. 

 

 

At 1.7 tog the sleeping bag is perfect for mid season - for in between those freezing cold months and heat waves we occasionally have. It is so important to me now that my little girl is in her own nursery she will not overheat and the tog for these upcoming months is perfect. As mentioned my little girl is such a wriggler at night, and it is so important to me that she was in a sleeping bag that allowed her to move in her sleep. This means she must be able to move from her front to her back with ease, which she was completely able to do in this sleeping bag. She sleeps very comfortably and I am very happy with the quality of the product, and importantly how safe it is for my daughter to use.

I do not have any cons on the product. I would highly recommend to any new mums or existing mums looking for the perfect sleeping bag (just like I was). We will be purchasing in heavier togs and bigger sizes as and when needed. Dixie seems just as happy as Mummy with the product and we will not be using any other brand of sleeping bag going forward! Parent Tester 2: Jessica Stevens

If your baby loves a sleeping bag I would definitely recommend it for you!

I love the aden + anais dream blankets for Willow and was very excited to try the mid season sleeping bag, especially as she keeps uncovering herself(!) and Natural Baby Shower did not disappoint.

One of my favourite things about ordering from NBS is that there is no excessive packaging. The sleeping bag arrived all snug in it’s brown paper bag, easy to open and easy to recycle - 2 big wins from me already!

The sleeping bag is beautifully soft just like the dream blankets and SO cute. It fits in with Willow’s bedroom PERFECTLY! She looks adorable in it and certainly was not complaining when I put her in it.

I actually wish I had gone for an aden & anais sleeping bag when Willow was a newborn as not only does it beat the competition for softness and looks, but the front jacket style zip is a revelation to me! So much easier when faffing in the semi-darkness with a wriggly (sometimes angry!) baby. It washes so well too.

Although I thought I would find blankets easier for nap times and would struggle to fully convert to the sleeping bag, the first time I tried the aden & anais sleeping bag she napped longer than she had in days!

I think it will be a great alternative to a blanket for travelling when trying to pack light and will definitely be taking it with us on holiday! Also on nights when baby is more difficult to put to bed the sleeping bag is fab as she doesn’t notice the move from Mumma (or Dadda!) to bed so much so all in all this is well worth having in the nursery.

The only downside is that you will have to buy two!

Parent Tester 3: Sarah Doman

When the item arrived the first thing I noticed was how compact and neat the NBS packaging was, I was really pleasantly surprised that there wasn't lots of unnecessary paper & cardboard. I love that it is completely recyclable, a big thumbs up for being environmentally friendly! The aden + anais packaging is neat & stylish too.

The print is gorgeous, and the colours are exactly as advertised/expected. The product is true to size. My 6 month old is tall, and she fits in the sleeping bag well now, but still has room to grow.

The product is of a high quality, it feels soft and I love the breathable fabric. My baby doesn't get too hot in the sleeping bag, and she seems very comfortable. She has learnt to roll over recently and she can roll over easily without getting caught up in the bag. I love the aden + anais prints, and think they offer something different and feel 'special' compared to others on the market.

It did bobble a little after the first wash, which I think is a drawback of using muslin cloth, but the breathable fabric outweighs this for me. So overall, our baby loves the sleeping bag and we would definitely purchase another in the future.

 

Parent Tester 4: Kelly Boultwood 

I was very excited about being chosen to test and review the aden + anais sleeping bag in Dream Ride print. The process from being notified that I won to receiving the product was quick and efficient. Their marketing and customer service team are ever so friendly!

Firstly, I was very impressed with how the sleeping bag was presented in a lovely box, the box included clear information on how to use and wash the product which was a great help. The NBS packaging was also very neat and l loved that it was eco-friendly. 

The colour and design of Jack's sleeping bag is just what I imagined but so much better! What first attracted me to the sleeping bag was its unique print, it's so different to anything else on the market. In real life, the print is so vibrant and intricate and doesn't dull in the wash at all. 

Jack's sleeping bag is great quality, the softness and comfort is way above any other brands we have tried before. My favourite feature is the zip, it zips closed from top to bottom which is safer for Jack as it means no metal fastening under his chin. It also makes night time nappy changes a breeze as I then zip open from the bottom which doesn't disturb Jack.

Jack is such a sleep-wriggler, he can end up at all ends and corners of his cot so it was really essential for me that the sleeping bag allows him to move freely. It did just that, especially with the extra spacious leg room. Also, because he moves around so much in his sleep I have always been conscious to not use blankets in his cot, this sleeping bag keeps him warm with the four layers of muslin but it's also so breathable that there's no risk of him overheating. He's been having great night sleeps ever since we have been using it! 

I really don't think Jack and I could be without this product now, he's been sleeping so well and it really helps to keep my mind at ease whilst he's asleep. Would 110% recommend this sleeping bag!
