Let’s look at closer at what a B Corp is, and how Bugaboo earned their B badge…
What is a B Corp?
Nonprofit network B Lab began in 2006 and was born from the notion that a different kind of economy was not only possible, but necessary. They then became known for certifying B Corporations “which are companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.”
The B Corp movement has the power to change our economy, by shifting our behaviours, culture, policies, and societal structure. B Corp is poised to address and solve our society’s challenges - the environmental crisis being of the most critical.
To achieve B Corp certification, a company’s entire social and environmental impact. A business must meet the highest standards of performance, accountability and transparency, and they must:

Bugaboo’s B Corp journey
Before embarking on their B Corp mission, Bugaboo understood that the certification goes beyond the sustainable materials they use. B Corp is also about the way they work together, the power of their factory and how they support their community.
Bugaboo are making progress in a number of ways to have a more positive social and environmental impact and become a force for good:
Sustainable strolling: As well as Buy Back, Bugaboo customers can join the circular economy with the Bugaboo Flex leasing and Certified Refurbished, which aims to give pushchairs a much longer life. They have also switched to mass-balanced bio-based materials and eco-friendly fabric coatings, as well as vegetarian leather to further reduce their environmental footprint.
Made to last: Bugaboo designs their pushchairs with the future in mind. Every Bugaboo stroller is tested beyond industry standards and built with a modular design that makes it easier to repair or replace.
Bugaboo factory: They own their own factory in Xiamen, so they are able to ensure safe, fair and humane working conditions.
For the future: From installing solar panels, to using biofuels for their ocean freight, Bugaboo continue to find more ways to reach net zero by 2035.
Community: Bugaboo are committed to supporting great causes such as Urban Nature Declaration and Designathon Works. Their company-wide volunteering program, Count us in, encourages their teams around the world to get involved in local initiatives. They also offer support by donating their products to shelters, hospitals, SOS Children’s Villages and families affected by conflict or natural disasters.
People: Bugaboo believe that it’s their responsibility to create a working environment that enables wellbeing and success. They do this by raising the standard of paid leave, pay a living wage, pension plans and offer a range of career development opportunities.
Bugaboo understands that B Corp certification doesn’t mean they are perfect, and they know they’ve still got a long way to go, but by joining this incredible movement, they are part of a community who are committed to using business as a force for good. They intend to use B Corp as a framework to keep improving and pushing for a better future for all.
