What Do You Need for a Nursery?

The most important piece of furniture you need is a cot. Your baby will sleep in a bedside crib for the first six months, but after that they’ll need a safe and cosy space to sleep. You will also need to get a breathable and comfortable mattress for the cot to keep your little one safe.
Wardrobes
While not essential if you don’t have the space, a wardrobe is a handy piece of furniture for any nursery that you can use for years to come and are great for when your little one grows into bigger clothes. Wardrobes are also really handy if you have twins or other children for that bit of extra storage space.
Chests
As you may already know, it’s easy as a parent to accumulate way more clothes for your baby than you own yourself. Having a good size chest of drawers that you can organise is essential for storage. The top of chests of drawers also makes a perfect changing station, so a dresser is definitely considered as an essential nursery item.
Feeding Chairs
You’ll be spending a lot of time in your baby’s nursery from nighttime feeds to story times or playtime, so it’s important to have a comfortable place to sit and rest your feet. There are a number of feeding chair options to choose from, and you could even get a rocking chair that will help soothe your baby to sleep.
Moses Baskets and Bedside Cribs
For the first six months of your little one’s life, they will be in a moses basket or bedside crib, so while it technically isn’t part of their nursery, it’s still an important piece of furniture that you won’t want to forget.
