Storksak’s story begins in 2003 when two Mums - Melanie Marshall and Suzi Bergman - met at their children’s school gates and together they had a vision for success; to create beautifully stylish changing bags that don’t compromise style for function...
Mel: “We began in 2005 with a tiny order from Selfridges London. I’m a fashion designer, and Suzi’s a law teacher. Our main aim was to build a business, which allowed us to take, collect and stay HOME when our CHILDREN were poorly”.
With Storksak’s mantra ‘A place for everything and everything in its place’, they sought out to create a premium, bespoke brand and within 15 years have gone from designing out of their own kitchens, to being stocked in some of the key retailers in the world.
‘We’re a team of 20 dedicated, talented and lovely people working in a small office in Kentish Town, North London. Having wonderful people who’ve worked with us from day one, is so important. With our team we’ve managed to create the business and work culture we always wanted, and had more kids along the way”.
Shortly after Storksak, Mel + Suzi started ‘Babymel’, a changing bag brand adapted for the high street market. This then led them to develop their kids brand 'Zip & Zoe’ - children’s backpacks, lunch bags and travel bags which allowed them to keep and nurture their loyal customers as their children grow.
“Our wonderful team of designers, marketers, accountants and sales people are a mix of professionals, working parents and young students. The mix is great fun and we’re constantly learning along the way. We continue with the same ethos as when we started...FAMILY, flexibility, life and work”.
